Comparable to the float on Río Corobicí, this calm, quiet section of Río Sarapiquí winds through tropical wet forest on the Caribbean side of the country and is perfect for nature lovers and birdwatchers. After being picked up in the early morning from your hotel in San José, you will drive by private, comfortable, air-conditioned bus to a local restaurant for a delicious, typical Costa Rican breakfast. On the way to the river, you'll pass by majestic La Paz waterfall and rolling, verdant fields of coffee, papayas, sugar cane and ferns |

Upon arrival to Río Sarapiquí, your friendly and professional guides will outfit you with lifejackets and paddles and give you a safety orientation for the river. You will begin rafting where the Class III trip finishes and continue down to Puerto Viejo. In some parts of the river you will pass green pastures and farmland, and delight in the sight of local children frolicking along shore. |

The lower half of the river winds along the borders of the beautiful, protected La Selva Biological Reserve - thick with lush vegetation, towering trees, vines and flowers. Along the riverbank, you'll stop for a luscious buffet picnic lunch prepared by your guides. Then it's back on the river enjoying the peace and quiet of the rainforest, and to watch iguanas, turtles and numerous species of birds. |
